A Beautiful Love Story

It tells the story of his loving but sometimes difficult relationship with long-time lover Kit Cowan over 14 years. It was written by David Marshall Grant and Dan Savage, and directed by Michael Showalter. The stars are Jim Parsons and Ben Aldridge.
In 2001, TV Guide writer Michael Ausiello meets photographer Kit Cowan in a Manhattan gay nightclub. They connect immediately and begin dating, though both are hesitant about a long-term relationship. But they fall deeply in love and move in together. Kit's parents, Bob and Marilyn, happily welcome Michael into their family. But Michael and Kit's relationship grows complicated over time, until tragedy brings them closer than ever.
"Spoiler Alert" is a wonderful surprise. Screenwriters David Marshall Grant and Dan Savage have turned Michael Ausiello best-seller into a beautifully written script full of warmth, humor, and compassion. Director Michael Showalter takes full advantage of it, bringing out the power of his story and characters with strength and dignity. He gets solid contributions from his colleagues, and brilliant performances from a marvelous cast. Sally Field and Bill Irwin are moving as Kit's parents. Ben Aldridge is marvelous as Kit- strong, compassionate, and wonderfully touching. Jim Parsons gives the performance of his life as Michael- witty, poignant, and deeply moving.
This is one of the year's best films, and not to be missed.
