Red Cross: Prepare Brentwood

The Preparedness unit of the American Red Cross in Greater New York in partnership with the Brentwood Public Library, will be hosting a day to "Prepare Brentwood". This will be a day-long event with multiple programs to engage the Brentwood community. There will be refreshments, raffles and events for all ages. 


Prepare with Pedro 
Ages 5-7

A preparedness education program for ages 5-7 that teaches students how to BE PREPARED and TAKE ACTION for either home fires or a local hazard. Students learn a coping skill and receive a storybook to share what they have learned at home. 

The Pillowcase Project 
Ages 8-12

The virtual Pillowcase Project is a free interactive preparedness program designed for children ages 8-12. The program aims to increase awareness and understanding of natural hazards, teach safety and emotional coping skills, as well as the importance of personal preparedness for the family. 

Teen Community Service Day With the Red Cross
Ages 13-17

Teen Community Service Volunteer sign-up starts at 9:30 am Saturday, March 25 in the Teen Room.

Earn up to 6 hours of community service by attending and participating in our Red Cross: Prepare Brentwood event at the library! There will be multiple programs, activities, and check in stations where you can earn community service hours. 

Hands Only CPR 
11:45 am-12:45 pm - English and Spanish - Register
12:45 pm-1:45 pm - English and Spanish - Register

Learn what to do in a medical emergency. Hands-only CPR is a life-saving technique that involves simply using chest compressions on a person who has suffered sudden cardiac arrest. CPR training certification will be issued. 

Preparedness Corps (CPC)
Ages 13 and up

Prepare, Respond, Recover: What to do When Disaster Strikes. This training gives a comprehensive overview on how to prepare for natural and man-made disasters and how to respond to and recover from them.
